Circular Cities Asia launches storytelling initiative for a circular economy

Inspiring change through the power of storytelling Introducing the Circular Stories HERO

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND — In today’s fast-evolving world, where challenges such as waste management, pollution, and resource scarcity persistently test our resilience and innovation, the narrative of change is not just important but imperative. In line with this, purpose-driven organization Circular Cities Asia has launched the Circular Stories Programme, a unique initiative to empower young environmental change makers to shine a light on circularity within their local communities using the art of storytelling.

Circular Cities Asia

Since accelerating circular economy innovations in 2021, Circular Cities Asia has engaged with over 6000 students through its innovation program and partnered with over 20 universities. Its collaborations with these academic institutions and industry leaders have provided applied learning opportunities that intersect circularity and innovation. The organization’s mission is to foster a community that not only discusses sustainability but actively partakes in its creation, nurturing real-world solutions and proactive participation in sustainable practices.

Why circular stories?

The Circular Stories Programme is crafted to address the planet’s urgent environmental challenges, transforming how we perceive waste, pollution, and resource depletion by spotlighting solutions and pioneers in circular economy practices. Through this program, participants will engage in immersive learning experiences and hands-on workshops, discovering and documenting innovative local solutions that exemplify circular principles in action.

What to expect from

Led by industry experts Suzanna Pomeroy, Roleen Sevillena, Lillygol Sedaghat, and Dev Albao, the Circular Stories Programme offers participants a comprehensive learning experience focused on the principles of the circular economy. The journey includes setting a foundational understanding of safety and ethics and local immersion to deepen participants’ connection to their communities and enhance their storytelling skills. Throughout the program, participants will learn best practices for creating a pitch for their story and get the opportunity to enter a competition either individually or as a team to submit their own idea for a Circular Story. Winning submissions will secure an immersive mentoring workshop with Lilly and Dev. Finalists will be invited to submit their completed stories for publication and to secure a financial completion prize. Through this, Circular Cities Asia hopes to foster a new generation of informed and influential change-makers.

The greater impact

By participating in the Circular Stories Programme, participants are not just gaining skills or knowledge but becoming pivotal voices in the movement towards a more sustainable future. Their stories will amplify the efforts of local innovations and innovators, spreading awareness and motivating others to choose a circular economy future.
