PASIG, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine advertising industry went head-to-head on July 13, 2024 on something totally outside of the work: the adobo Inter-agency Football Cup. In a day of community, sportsmanship and friendly competition, 13 agencies excitedly welcomed the games back with much fanfare, with training sessions for their players, and personalized chants and cheers from the rest of their teammates. With this, the Atleta63 Football Field in Bridgetown, Pasig City was full of activity from afternoon to late evening on the day, led by Dentsu Creative as this year’s big winners.

From the get-go, Dentsu Creative was already bringing so much energy into the adobo Football Cup, with loud cheers from their non-player teammates – including agency leaders – and the team’s very own drum line which was moved from field to field to accompany its electrifying chants. Each game that the team played in was met with excitement and much observation, turning heads from other fields and drawing crowds from other agencies as well.

True enough, with its talented players fueled even more with the agency’s lively cheers, Dentsu Creative ended up securing a win in each game, besting opposing teams in Group B from Indigos United (Propel Manila), NuWorks United FC (NuWorks Interactive Labs, Inc.) and Hakuhodo FC (IdeasXMachina (IXM)), until that intense final play with VML-AIA Bolas Grandes (VML Philippines).

In the end, it ultimately brought home some of the biggest wins of the evening, namely:

  • Adobo Cup Division Championship
  • (Most Goals) Golden Boot Award: Kazuki Kyoya with 14 goals
  • Golden Glove Award: Nikko Borromeo (Team Captain)
  • Dave Ferrer Best in Team Spirit Award

With all the fanfare of the much-awaited return of the adobo Inter-agency Football Cup, nothing could compare to the winning moment that determined Dentsu Creative as this year’s champions. After a long day of intense games and non-stop cheering, the team brought home the first adobo Cup trophy in five years, and made the event all the more fun to witness and participate in – effectively setting the tone for a new era of the adobo Football Cup.
